Information we collect
Account and profile information
We collect the information needed to create and operate your account, including your phone number, account identifier, display name, optional profile photo, gender when provided, and profile details you choose to add.
Intents and AI interactions
We collect the requests you type, relevant conversation history, answers to follow-up questions, and structured details that Intent prepares to understand a request and look for compatible active requests. These details may include interests, availability, location preferences, relationship context, and the kind of person or participation you seek.
Matches and conversations
We process expressions of interest, acceptance decisions, match state, chat membership, messages, and related delivery information so that chat opens only after mutual agreement and continues to work.
Safety and support
If you report or block someone or contact support, we may collect the reason, optional details, the accounts involved, information from the related match or conversation when available, block status, enforcement records, and your support message.
Device and service information
We may process notification tokens, device and app information, network information, service logs, diagnostics, and activity needed to secure, operate, and troubleshoot Intent. The public website does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies. If you choose a color theme, that preference is saved only in your browser.
How we use information
We use information to:
- create, authenticate, and manage accounts;
- understand, form, store, and activate Intents;
- find compatible active requests and manage mutual acceptance;
- provide chat and service notifications;
- respond to support, privacy, and account requests;
- investigate reports, enforce blocks, and protect the service;
- prevent abuse and improve service reliability.
How Google Gemini is used
Intent uses Google Gemini to understand the request you type, ask useful follow-up questions, prepare relevant request details, and help find compatible matches. Intent sends the request, relevant conversation, and details prepared from them to Google Gemini for these purposes.
Before you enter Intent, the app identifies Google Gemini, explains what is shared and why, and asks for your explicit permission. This processing is required for Intent’s core matching experience. If you decline or later stop permission, you cannot continue into the service until you allow it again.
Intent uses Google Gemini as a paid service. Submitted API content is processed to provide the service and is not permitted by Intent to be used to train general-purpose AI models.
Service providers
Intent relies on the following providers:
- Google Firebase for phone authentication, databases, storage, notifications, backend functions, and service operation.
- Google Gemini for understanding requests, asking follow-up questions, and supporting relevant matching.
- Stream Chat for direct conversations after both matched users agree.
These providers process information on our behalf under their applicable service terms and safeguards. Information may be processed in countries other than your own.
Retention and account deletion
We keep information while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide Intent, maintain security, respond to requests, and resolve operational issues.
You can request account deletion in the app under Me → Delete account. Access is disabled immediately after a successful request, and the account cannot be restored.
Within 30 days, Intent deletes or removes the link to your ordinary personal information, including your Firebase authentication account, phone number, profile, Intents, AI request conversations, match and chat data, uploaded media, notification tokens, and account-linked device identifiers.
Reports, blocks, and evidence strictly necessary to investigate abuse, protect users, and document enforcement may be kept in a restricted safety record for up to 180 days. At the end of that period, the record is deleted or de-identified so that it no longer identifies you.
For more detail, see our account deletion guide.
Your choices and rights
You can edit available profile fields, manage blocked users, stop future Gemini processing under Me → App settings → Use of Google Gemini, and delete your account in the app. Stopping Gemini cannot cancel a request already sent for processing.
You may contact us to ask about access, correction, deletion, or another privacy request. We may need to verify that the request concerns your account before acting on it.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. No online system can guarantee absolute security, so keep your device secure and contact us if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Intent changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice in the app when a material change requires it.
For privacy, account, support, or safety questions, email contact@intent.place. We’ll respond as soon as reasonably possible.
